Meet the new members of our staff!
Shivaan Burke is the administrative assistant at Kawartha Land Trust and has a background in environment and climate change science. She has worked in government and the private sector as a researcher and community organizer to identify and communicate best practices across many sectors. Shivaan obtained her Master of Science degree from Trent University in 2015, where her research used computer modelling technology to measure the carbon storage potential of peri-urban agroforestry systems under waste water irrigation regimes. Shivaan has a keen understanding of the critical connections that exist between scientific inquiry and policy development that supports balanced landuse practices.
Tineasha Brenot is the Land Conservation Specialist at Kawartha Land Trust. She possesses a B.Sc. in Biology from Trent University and a Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems from Algonquin College. Tineasha was most recently the coordinator of the Coast Watchers citizen science program in her past position with the Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation in addition to managing projects targeting plastic pollution and invasive species. Tineasha has worked in education and outreach positions with Ontario Parks and supported the conservation efforts for reptiles and amphibians as a Team Lead with Scales Nature Park. Throughout her journey to better understand the natural world, a significant amount of time has been spent crawling through wetlands to support her eagerness to learn.
