Spring 2024 Kawartha Land Trust Volunteer Orientation & Training Opportunities

Kawartha Land Trust volunteers and staff at a fieldwork day at Ballyduff Trails

Over the last year, Kawartha Land Trust (KL)T has focused on enhancing our volunteer program. One of our goals is to improve the onboarding process and training for volunteers.

In early April we will be holding KLT Volunteer Orientation Sessions. The purpose of these sessions is to provide introductions to KLT’s mission, vision and values and communicate upcoming volunteer opportunities as we approach the spring fieldwork season. The sessions will also include an overview of important KLT policies and procedures.

While this new volunteer orientation will be part of KLT’s volunteer onboarding process going forward, it’s also for volunteers who have been with us for a while. It’s a chance to review important information, receive updates, and connect with other KLT volunteers and staff.

Our first session, which will be held in April, will be at KLT’s new Hammer Family Nature Preserve, the organization’s largest protected property. Attendees at this session will not only receive volunteer training but also the opportunity to tour a part of this new nature reserve. Other sessions will be held in Peterborough and via Zoom. Complete details are below.

An invitation to register for one of the upcoming sessions was sent to all current KLT volunteers on March 22, 2024. If you are a KLT volunteer and did not receive the email, or if you are not currently a volunteer, but would like to find out more about how to get involved in helping to forward conservation in the Kawarthas and attend one of the upcoming sessions, please contact Chris Ferguson, Volunteer Program Specialist, at 705-743-5599, ext. 9, or email [email protected].
