Spring is in the air and things are gearing up as we prepare for a busy field and events season ahead!
In April, we held three volunteer orientation training sessions for new and existing Kawartha Land Trust (KLT) volunteers. We were elated to have over 70 volunteers attend the training sessions.
The first session took place at KLT’s new Hammer Family Nature Preserve, located in the Municipality of Trent Lakes. It was incredible to be able to welcome our volunteers to this recently protected property. The sun was shining down on us and it added to a feeling of excitement for the upcoming field season and for all the important work that we can accomplish together.
A number of KLT staff were on hand to share specific upcoming volunteer needs. After an indoor presentation, Hayden Wilson, Land Stewardship Manager, led a short walk to explore some of the property.
The second volunteer orientation took place at the Lion’s Club in Peterborough and the last training was conducted via a virtual meeting.
Thank you to all of our volunteers who signed up to attend one of these orientations. It was a great opportunity to connect, share important policies and procedures, and remind ourselves of KLT’s mission and values and the important goals we are working to achieve together here in the Kawarthas.
If you were unable to attend one of the April volunteer orientation training sessions, we have two more planned for May!
