Reporting Violations/Whistleblower Policy

The purpose of Kawartha Land Trust’s (KLT) Whistleblower Policy is to provide direction to, and protection for, all current or former KLT employees, contracted service providers, volunteers and Board members regarding the communication and disclosure of events, decisions, concerns or actions, with respect to issues of professional conduct, integrity of actions or practices and legal compliance. In particular, any questionable financial or operational matters that could be or may seem to be in contravention of KLT policies, CLT standards and practices or any applicable laws and regulations. Please read the full KLT Reporting Violations/Whistleblower Policy (PDF) by clicking the button below. Social Media Community Guidelines

Welcome to KLT’s online community! We love connecting with you on social media about the land you love, and we want to make sure everyone has a positive and respectful experience. These guidelines explain how to participate, what to do, and what not to do when interacting with us online.

1. What We Expect from You

We want everyone to feel safe and respected when they interact with us online. Here’s how you can help:

  • Be Kind and Respectful: Treat others how you would like to be treated. Please avoid name-calling, bullying, or using hurtful or abusive language.
  • Stay on Topic: We’re here to talk about conserving and caring for the natural and working lands of the Kawarthas and to learn more about nature in the Kawarthas. Keep comments and posts related to our work, and feel free to ask questions or share your thoughts.
  • Share Good Vibes: Encourage others, share positive messages, and help make our online space welcoming for everyone!

2. What Not to Do

To keep our space friendly and safe, please avoid:

  • Hate Speech or Violence: Any posts or comments that include hate, violence, or hurtful or threatening language will not be tolerated.
  • Misinformation: Please do not share false or misleading information. If you’re unsure, double-check before posting.
  • Spam: Do not post links or content that are not related to our cause. We want to keep things relevant to our mission, vision, and strategic goals.
  • Personal Information: For your safety, do not share personal information like your home address or phone number. We also ask you not to share other people’s personal information.

3. Our Right to Remove Content

We want to keep things informative, friendly and fun, so if we believe a comment or photo does not follow our guidelines, we may:

  • Hide or Delete comments that are disrespectful or harmful.
  • Block people who repeatedly break the rules.

We’re committed to creating a space where everyone feels safe. If you see something you think is not right, you can always reach out to us at [email protected].

4. Protecting Your Privacy

Your privacy matters. Here’s how we protect it:

  • Your Info: We won’t share your personal information without your consent, except as required by law.
  • Cookies and Tracking: Sometimes we use cookies to improve your experience on our website, but we’ll never share your data with others for profit.

5. What Happens If You Break the Rules?

If you break these rules, we might:

Our goal is to keep things fun, friendly, and fair for everyone.
