Protected in 2011 through a generous donation by the Ingleton and Wells families, Kawartha Land Trust’s (KLT) 73-acre Ingleton-Wells property in North Kawartha is an incredible place to visit to reconnect with nature. The lands include open fields and an orchard, as well as upland forests, swamps, and open areas that provide diverse habitats for wildlife.
Deer, wild turkeys, porcupines, squirrels, and bats are common sights on this property. The dense forests are perfect for many species of raptors, including Sharp-shinned Hawks and Red-shouldered Hawks. Scarlet Tanagers, Indigo Buntings, Hermit Thrushes, and Black-Throated Green Warblers have been spotted in the interior forests on the property and Red-Headed Woodpeckers and Sapsuckers along the forests’ edges.
The public access trails on KLT’s Ingleton-Wells property are part of KLT’s Stony Lake Trails network. Be sure to bring your binoculars and see you out on the trails!
