A variety of forest types and tree species on this property allude to the interesting history of this area. Dispel mysteries of the past and predict the future of these forests with Ancient Forest Exploration & Research and the Kawartha Land Trust while brushing up on your tree identification skills!

Meet the Guide!

Carling Dewar, M.Env.Sc.
Carling earned her Master of Environmental Science degree at the University of Toronto and has been involved in a variety of conservation initiatives, from flying squirrel research in Haliburton Forest, to species at risk policy implementation in Ontario and across the country. She continues to support these initiatives through volunteer work with the Kawartha Wildlife Centre and her new position withAncient Forest Exploration & Research as a Forest Ecologist & Outreach Coordinator. Outside of the office, Carling enjoys visiting the many parks and lakes in the area and dreams of someday visiting old-growth forests on the west coast.
